One night in Bangkok...

We landed in Bangkok one early Tuesday morning. I was dreading the flight a little, because of my newfound fear of being inside en aircraft... But Thai Air was on their best behavior, a lovely meal, my own little tv and the glue that holds it all together, the teeny tiny cute cans of diet coke! The flight was pretty smooth, and part from a few little "bumps in the road",  the highlight of the whole trip was overlooking a thunderstorm in the horizon over Kabul, spectacular!!
After an 11 hour flight from Oslo, with nearly no sleep what so ever, I pinned my orchid (a little welcome-to-Thailand present from Thai Air) to my wrist and headed towards customs. The airport was surprisingly quiet and it only took us about 20 minutes to clear :) Headed towards the baggage claim and I could already notice the distinctive smell of strange spices, my stomach is twisting in fear already! :D
We hauled a cab at the airport and decided to head towards the hotel, and then to get some breakfast.. I must say, from surviving Atlanta rush hour traffic for years, well I tell you my friend, that is nothing compared to trying to work your way through the city of Bangkok! It seemed like every car thought is was on it merry own, making up new rules, not to mentions, new lanes in what normally would be a four lane road! Yes you heard me, four lanes, yet six lanes of traffic?! How is that for excitement... Thankfully I was way to tired to care at this point :)
Needless to say, the culture shock was working its way into my body pretty quickly this morning, and we decided to leave for Cambodia the very next day...
We had already decided to take the scenic route, and we hauled yet another cab to take us to the border.  Six hours, two visas and one tuk-tuk ride later, we arrived at what would now be known as my new home town; Siem Reap :)
